Calvin Can Read
I was reading The Three Little Pigs to Calvin last night and we got done and he said okay mom I will read it to you. I was expecting a summarized version of the story as we looked at each picture as usual (he always likes to read the books to me). But to my surprise he closed the book, pointed to the T and said t-h-r-e-e "Three", l-tt-l "little" p-g-s "pigs". I was shocked. We have been working with him on recognizing the letters and there sounds but not putting them into words. So for him to just put it together like that made me so proud. I was so excited. He is so smart. He amazes me everyday.

Hmmm, let me think. I was 13 going on 25 as my parents would say. I think I was freaking out because I was getting my first period and had no idea what to do. I probably had a crush on one of those boy bands, yes the whole band, like 'NSYNC. I hated junior high because we had just moved to Santaquin and I missed all of my friends. But I loved watching country music videos on our TV because we had to get cable to have TV at all in Santaquin. I also loved laying out on the grass with my mom and sister.
Ten years ago I was a junior in high school taking a lot of drafting classes. I rode my bike everyday and built lots of jumps and ramps in the backyard. My friends and I got to be in a Lizard Skins ad that ran in SnapBMX magazine for a month or two. My life was pretty much one big bike ride that got interrupted by school everyday. I loved listening to Tool and White Zombie and was just getting into punk music. I also wanted a Willys jeep really bad.
Things on my to do list today...
Go fill the perscription for Calvin's eczema. Get 20 more Digger books at the library so that I can read them to Calvin 300 times in the next 3 weeks before they are due. Figure out where to get Becca's beautiful hair color before people start noticing that I have gray hair coming in. Have fun with the kids without damaging my knee any more than it is. And hopefully get some of this disastrous office organized ( I guess I could be doing that instead of blogging).
I am at work, so I get to do labs, check chemicals, go on rounds and repeat. I might even get to wash filter toward the end of my shift. I will probably work on my RC car a little bit and pray that my boss doesn't read this.
Snacks I enjoy...
Anyone that knows me knows that I could eat chips, salsa and guacomole for a week straight and not get sick of it. I also love icecream from Coldstone.
I like honey roasted peanuts, pop tarts and licorice. I must also agree with Chrissy about Coldstone-- it's heaven frozen over.

3 of my Bad Habits....
Wow, just three.
1) Piling up papers in the office and saying I will get to those later and I never do.
2) Making To-do lists and then writing sticky notes that say "Do your to-do lists", instead of just doing it.
3)Asking Jon to do way more than he should have to.
1. Starting projects and not finishing them, even after I have spent a small fortune.
2. Buying stuff on Ebay that I think I need, but Chrissy doesn't. That reminds me, I need to check on an auction that is ending soon.
3. Stray junk cars are attracted to me. I can't just let them wander the streets. They need a home too.

I haven't had that many jobs. I've been a mechanic at three different shops and now I'm a water treatment plant operator. Oh yeah, I worked at Guy's Bike Shop when I was 14.
5 Things people might not know about me...
1)I was in the Miss Santaquin Royalty and got to ride in all of the parades in the summer of 2001.
2)I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Business Management when I was 19!
3)I got married 2 1/2 months after I turned 18.
4)I am scared of needles so I had a natural birth with Lily.
5)I absolutely love doing Turbo Kickboxing at the gym and that is the worst part about having my knee hurt.
1. I wrecked a cop car.
2. I drove a 710 HP Ford GT.
3. I currently have 11 RC cars. I only have 3 real cars right now, but I'm working on a fourth.
4. I dislike talking on the phone, especially to people I don't know.
5. In the seventh grade I wished that I was a Terminator, or at least that I could have a robotic arm to punch holes through steel doors and bullies.

Lottery List
Here is my "What I would buy if I won the Lottery list"
I may add to this list as I decide I want more things that I see on infomercials. I tend to want everyting I see on TV, they are so convincing (up to date I haven't bought anything off of TV though).
Because I was tagged and have to answer the question about the lottery, I too will add to the lottery list. My posts are under Chrissy's and are lettered. -Jon
1. H2o mop that I saw on tv.
A. A 3000 watt Lehner brushless motor and a Castle Hydra 240 speed control for my 1/8 scale buggy.
2. A little bit bigger house with land and 4 wheelers so we could drive them around the backyard.
B. A lot bigger garage with a car hoist, heater and lots of 220V outlets.
3. A new wardrobe ( I can't remember the last time I bought myself a new outfit).
C. An RCCrawler.com hoody and another Pink Floyd T shirt.
4. A Nissan Murano or Ford Edge- orange in color with tan leather interior. Pretty much the same car but I love both of them.
D. About $50k to dump into my present truck. This will go toward a supercharged DOHC 5.4l motor, long travel suspension, Dana 60's, dual transfer cases and new paint and fenders.
5. Give Jon all the money he could ever want or need to build his little RC trucks and a big Baha Truck.
E. Give Chrissy all the money she could ever want for infomercial items, clothes and flour to feed her KitchenAid.
6. Give the kids a hefty college savings account.
F. NO! They have to get scholarships just like the rest of us. Lottery money is for fun stuff.
7. Pay off our parents mortgages.
G. I guess I should do something philanthropic, so ok.
8.Give all our siblings wonderful amounts of money for their birthdays.
H. Fine. I'll do that on Christmas. And our friends' birthdays.
9. Travel with whomever we want to and where ever we want to go.
I. Go to Moab monthly.
10. Have Jon quit his job and start his own bike shop that we can run in a small town.
J. Have Chrissy quit her job so she won't make more money than me. I think I'd rather start a machine shop in the garage, but I'll build bike parts too.

2. Paint Calvin's table in the playroom and paint Lily's letters on her shelf.
2. Travel to Europe with Jon, mostly Germany, and see where he served his mission.
3. Go on a church history tour.
4. See all of my kids with great spouses and happy lives.
5. Serve a mission with Jon.
6. Take my kids to Disneyland, New York City and Washington D.C.
7. Be financily secure ( I don't mean filthy rich, just comfortable enough to do the things on this list).
8. Pay off our mortgage.
9. Become a great Relief Society teacher. One who really can get people to understand things in a different way.
10. Climb to the top of Timp with Jon and watch the sunrise.

Not so fun Ski day
Jon and I had been planning to go skiing up at Deer Valley for months. We finally got a babysitter and had everything worked out to go. We got out on the slopes and tried out the bunny hill for a while. Jon decided to go with Derek, Jenessa and Joe up on a bigger hill while I practiced a few more times. Jon ended up getting lost for 45 minutes and taking three lifts back to where I was at. I went on the bunny slope a few more times. I got stuck on the lift once and they had to stop it for me so that I could jump off. When me and Jon finally got back togethor we decided to go on a bigger hill. We got up to the top, took one picture (that didn't turn out) and headed down the hill. We got going and I thought I was doing just fine when we came to a pretty steep hill. I started to snow plow to slow down and somehow my skis got crossed and I did a few flips down the hill instead. Well, I ended up having some very nice people help me ski patrol to give me a ride down the hill in something that looked like a casket without a lid. The most embarassing part was having my brothers looking down at me in this contraption saying "what happened?". Needless to say we spent the rest of the afternoon in the Park City Urgent Care office. I tore a ligament in my right knee and maybe fractured the bone (they couldn't tell from the x-ray). They sent me home in this obnoxiously huge knee brace and told me not to walk on it for a few days until I could get into an orthopedic doctor. So much for having a fun day without the kids.
To make matters worse. I had been working on my Relief Society lesson for three weeks and I was suppose to give it on Sunday. I decided I was still going to give it even if I was in pain for the whole hour. Sunday morning I typed up my lesson for 2 hours, hobbled around on one foot getting ready and curling my hair. Just to hear the doorbell ring at 12:30 (church is at 1:00) and to get the news that church was cancelled because everyone was snowed in. I was so disappointed. All of that hard work and I didn't even get to share all of the things I learned. Atleast I got to study Jesus Christ right, but I am still going to ask if I can give this lesson for my next months lesson. I hope everyone else had a better weekend then I did.

Our Prophet
With the passing of President Hinckley I just wanted to jot down some of my feelings about him. I am sure a lot of people have similar feelings about him. He was wonderful and everyone could see that. But for some reason I feel like I just lost one of my best friends. I never met him or talked to him but I felt like he loved me unconditionally. As if everytime he spoke he was speaking just to me. When I think of someone who was Christ-like I think of President Hinckley. He was glowing and magnificent in a way that I think Christ would be (on a smaller scale). He had a wonderful attitude that I want to acquire. He was the only prophet that I really felt close to. He taught me a lot in my youth and I always hung his sayings on my walls. What I will always remember is the feeling that came over me everytime I saw him or heard his voice. I would automatically smile and listen. He had a way of grasping my attention without being loud or overbearing. He grasped it with love. I am striving to heed his advice and his example on attitudes and the better I do at that, the closer I get to my Savior. Thank you President Hinckley for your wonderful counsel and shining countenance. I will miss you.
Sledding Fun
We decided to take the kids sledding on Saturday and we had such a blast. Lily even laughed as we went down a tiny hill. Calvin started crying when it was time to go home. With all the snow we are getting we hope to go a few more times this year.
