Jon's sister Alicia graduated with her RN in April and she asked me to take a few pictures of her and Colby to put on her graduation invitation. The pictures turned out cute. And congrstulations to Alicia for all of her hard work at becoming a nurse!

Please Grow

We decided to double the garden this year because of all the green smoothies we have been drinking. We added three more boxes and some really good soil. At the begining of April we planted all sorts of stuff: broccoli, radishes, asparagus, artichoke, peas, beans, beets, red and yellow raspberries, strawberries, goji berries, potatoes, squash, cucumber, melons and the usually salsa stuff. Utah has had one of the coldest, rainiest springs in history, so I am just hoping that all off those freezing nights didn't completely ruin our chance of a great harvest.

We did have a lot of fun working on and planting the garden together. in this picture Calvin is acting like a cactus, and no we did not plant any cactus plants.

Switch please

This happened a few months ago and I am just now writing it down. That Tempur Pedic bed that we bought in September and thought that we liked it alright ended up being pretty uncomfortable. It was really hard. And everytime I called RC Willey or Tempur Pedic about it they would give me some ideas to soften it up but it never really helped. I called before our 2 month trial was up to say I wanted to trade it and they said to give it more time. Then when I called a couple weeks later to exchange it they said we couldn't. I kind of let it go and then a couple of months later I couldn't stand it any more. It was still hard and uncomfortable. So I made several phone calls and complained enough and RC Willey finally let me exchange for the Simmons beauty rest. And I have loved it! . It is a less expensive bed and I sleep better on it. Jon misses the tempur pedic sometimes but he really doesn't mind. I am happy with the exchange. We also got a new bedding set at Kohl's that I think is really pretty.

Easter

Easter was a little different this year. We didn't end up going to Moab for the jeep safari. The Blazer was not in working order. And Jon had to work so we just stayed home. The kids woke up to Easter baskets and the girls got new easter dresses. You see the egg carton on the couch? Well I made that several years ago when I was a young womens leader. It is the story of the atonement and resurrection. In each plastic egg there is a piece of something that has to do with the story. We read this story every year and I love it. It really brings the spirit.

Jon and I drew a picture of Magicland for the kids. Magicland is a place Calvin made up and talks about all the time. It consists of anything and everything wonderful and magical in Calvin's mind. We drew our version because Magicland exists in the creators head. Calvin loves getting cards or drawings from us.

Easter egg hunt

I took Calvin and Lily to the Cedar Hills Easter egg hunt this year. There were a lot of people there and we still found a good spot on the GO line. When the mayor said Go, all the kids took off, including Calvin. I was busy helping Lily when I realized I couldn't see Calvin anymore. I looked around for a few minutes and then I started freaking out a little bit. There were so many kids and I was getting scared he was lost and wouldn't be able to find me in the crowd and then Lily called out, "I see Calvin!" And I was so grateful. That was a very frightening few minutes for me. But the kids just had a blast!

Ten years

On April 6th 2001 Jon and I went on our first date. I was a junior in high school and jon had recently returned home from his mission to Germany. We went on a double date with my friend Jenna and Jon's cousin Josh. We went out to dinner at TGI Friday's and then we went to Trafalga to miniature golf and then to see the movie What Women Want at the dollar theater. It was a really fun first date and Jon and I both new it was the start of something special.

Well it has been 10 years and it has been quite the journey since that first date. I wanted to do something special on that day so I came up with a little treasure hunt for the kids that gave them clues about this special day. And then we took them to Trafalga for the day to celebrate. It was a great day. And it is amazing to me how much life can change in ten years all because of a first date!
