Lesson with prayer

This story is great. Calvin had lost his hammer that he just can't live without and after a couple of days of hearing him say where is my hammer 20 times a day I decided we should probably do some better searching. I told Calvin that we should pray and ask Heavenly Father to help us find his hammer. He knelt beside me and said the sweetest most simple prayer. We got up and it wasn't two minutes before I realized it was in the diaper bag in the back of the car. I ran out and grabbed and brought it in to Calvin. He was so excited he yelled "oh , thank you Heavenly Father" and ran off to play. It was such a good lesson for him and a great reminder for me that all we have to do is ask, it doesn't have to be complicated, Heavenly Father loves us and he will help us we just need to have faith like our sweet little kids.

A couple of contractors told us we could flatten our ceiling out this way. We decided to give it a try so we wouldn't have to tear the ceiling down. It was up for a week and you almost can't tell we had a hole in the ceiling.

Here was the problem, a tiny hole in the pipe that the fan is on. We were drying everything out so that we could start tiling.

This fan is drying the ceiling of the family room through the floor of our bathroom. Everything seems to be coming along now.

Water, Water Everywhere

So, it's January 8th and we are busily celebrating Elvis' and my birthdays. I am talking on the phone to my mom trying to get her to take the munchkins so we can go out to dinner when I notice the floor in our bathroom is bubbled up about three inches. I run downstairs to the family room and, sure enough, the sheetrock on the ceiling is bulged out and leaking water. My dad came over and we drilled a hole in the ceiling from which we retrieved about 1.5 gallons of water.

The next day after work, I poked around in bathroom and decided I would pull the tub surround out. Then I hacked a big hole in the sheetrock and found a little stream of pipe urine filling up the spaces betwixt the walls and floor. The line to the shower valve had a pin hole in the middle of the pipe. It wasn't even a failed joint. After fixing that, my dad and I ripped out the toilet, vanity, linoleum and sub floor.

Now, we have a 4x8 sheet of plywood screwed to the family room ceiling propped up with 2x4's to push the sheetrock back to were it should be. Chrissy's brother Andy is going to help us tile the bathroom. So, yeah, I had a really happy birthday.

Christmas and New Years

Calvin loved his animals and jeep. But the prized present was Bob the Builder and Scoop.















Christmas was pretty good this year. Kind of a bummer though because Jon had to work all of Christmas morning. I don't know about his new schedule, but hopefully we will get used to it. I do love that he gets home a lot earlier these days. We opened presents at three in the afternoon. It was fun to see Calvin get excited over his gifts. And Jon really suprised me by getting me a kitchen aid. I have wanted one for a while. I have already made cookies a few times and cinnamon rolls. It is really nice. Lily mostly ate the wrappipng paper and didn't care about her gifts. We decicded to splurge after Christmas and buy a Flat panel LCD TV. We have wanted one for a while and finally decided to do it. It is nice because it gives us a lot more space in the family room.

New Year's Eve was fun. We had a party here with the cousins. Some people got in the hot tub while others played Guitar Hero or Pictionary. I can't believe it is already 2008. Time for resolutions. I want to study my scriptures more and do more real estate but mostly I just want to have as much fun as I can with Jon and the kids. Go on vacations and play a lot of games, go hiking and fishing and stuff like that. I guess the more real estate I do the more fun we can have.


I just hope for a happy, healthy, fun year.

Sudar Family Year in Review 2007

We hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season. We have had some fun changes in our family in 2007 and we would like to share some of them with you.
Little Lily was born back in June and she has proven to be quite a little sweetheart. She smiles and laughs at anything Calvin does and she sounds just like a little motor boat when she blows her spit bubbles. We just love her to pieces.
Calvin turned two, talks a lot and may as well be the solution to the next power crisis (If we could only harness his energy to make electricity). He is very entertaining, albeit hard to keep up with, but we never have a dull moment. Calvin enjoys swinging, watching Bob the Builder, and stopping by construction sites to ask if he can drive the heavy equipment. He is also a very big Shrek fan and can name all the characters and quote some of their lines. “Get out of my swamp!”
Chrissy, although the mother of two energetic little munchkins, is still hard at work doing real estate and keeping the house looking awesome. Speaking of real estate Chrissy found us an awesome new home in Pleasant Grove just a couple of miles away from our old one. We have a shed for all of my car junk, a swing set for Calvin, and a hot tub when we need to relax. We love it here.
I have been busy with school. I just finished my Bachelor’s degree in Technology Management and got a new job as a water treatment operator at the Utah Valley Plant. I am now a retired automotive technician and I like it that way.

Calvin has been singing his ABC's for a couple of months now. He sure is getting smart. I love how he dances when he sings. And of course he always has to have his tools with him. I wonder where he gets that from :)

Finally Finished

Well, I'm sitting here at the computer and I just emailed off the last of my assignments. I just have to wait for my grades now and pray I passed accounting. Finishing my bachelor's degree was fairly anti-climatic. I was a little disappointed. Graduation is not until spring, so maybe that will help. Ok, I was pretty excited, but I still want to sleep for a week. I can finally return to normal life, instead of doing lots of homework every night. Somehow, I think that the void left by college will quickly be filled by Little Dilly and Calvin. That's ok. They're much more exciting than advanced project management. I think I'll be all right, at least until I decide I need a master's degree or something like that. --Jon
