2009 comes to a close
2009 was a good year for us. A lot of fun and exciting things happened. If you wonder what those things were, just look over the last 12 months of posts.
I always love the holidays but they are so busy that I also love the stillness of the first couple of weeks of the new year. We went to some great holiday parties including, Jon's work party and plant breakfast, the Nielson family party back at Aunt Angies (hooray), the Steven's family, Pontious family, ward party, my work luncheon, and other fun activities. The end of the year is crazy trying to get primary ready for the new year. New teachers, new manuals, new lists and schedules, event planning and so on. Needless to say, it was a very crazy and fun December.
On New Year's eve we got a wonderful surprise. A new little Nephew. Domi and Tyler had little baby Greyson Tyler Quong on New Year's Eve morning. We got to go and visit them at the hospital. He is just an adorable little guy and we are so happy he is part of our family.
That night we had Colby and Alicia and Joe and Jeri over for some yummy food and fun games. Darcy, Parker, Calvin and Lily played so well together and they even stayed up until midnight.
We look forward to 2010 with many great events ahead of us. A new baby being born to our family, Lily starting preschool, Calvin going to Kindergaten and a whole lot more. Life is good!!

Christmas Day
Christmas Day was really great this year. Jon worked graves, so he got home at 7 am. We ended up waking up the kids at 8 because Jon wanted to go to bed at some point. We brought the kids down to the living room and they were so excited to open presents. This year we started a new tradition. Before we open any presents we say a prayer and then we write a card to Jesus. In the card we write something that we want to work on the next year that would be a gift to our Savior, like pray more or study the scriptures or be happier, whatever we want to work on. And then put it in this pretty little treasure box. We really loved doing this.
Then we opened our baby card to find out we are having a GIRL!! Well 70% sure. The cord was between her legs during the ultrasound.
Calvin got a pirate cove set, some school clothes and shoes and his special dragon castle. He saw this Dragon castle when he was choosing his birthday present back in July. He had to choose between it and a Lego set and knight costume. When we were at the store he said "I know, I will get the Legos and Knight costume now and the Dragon castle for Christmas. " And believe me, not a day went by in the last six months where he didn't mention that he was getting a Dragon Castle for Christmas. He was sooo excited when he finally got to open it and play with it. It is very special to him, it stays in his room where he can keep an eye on it, along witht he castle he got last year. When he was very sad we were having a girl we said "you can keep your castles in your room becasue Lily will be sharing her room with the new baby girl." He said, "Oh, that's okay then, we can have a girl."
I got Jon some ammo for his gun, some clothes, and some other odds and ends. He bought himself a gun a little while before Christmas that was part of his present. And we kind of counted our cabinets and the van a big part of our Christmas this year.
For Christmas breakfast I made cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos. Jon went to sleep for a while after that. When he woke up we went to my parents house for Christmas dinner and games. My family got Rock band for Christmas, so everyone took turns playing with that. Lily was so cute playing with her little guitar. My mom gave the kids some new pajamas that they got to wear home. It was a great day.
Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve's Eve
Here are some pictures from our Christmas Eve's eve party at Gary and Wendy's. We love this party. We had yummy food and good company. Domi and Tyler got Lily a doll the size of her, she was dancing around with it. It was pretty funny. Gary and Wendy got Calvin a Lego truck and Jon and Calvin put it together that night. Then it was off to bed for me and the kids and Jon was off to work. Jon was on the graveyard shift this Christmas.
